Fleur de Lehigh Returns On Tax Day

Posted by Foobooz on April 6th, 2009

Philadelphia Brewing Co.’s first seasonal, Fleur de Lehigh returns April 15th in draught and bottles. It marks the first time a PBC seasonal will be available in bottles.

Here’s how the brewery described Fleur de Lehigh last year.

This brew is a nod to old tyme beverages – the kind of styles being re-invigorated by Belgians and Italians and foresighted Americans. The emphasis is on a unique line up of herbs and spices. If you must conform to styles think Belgian Pale … with herbs and spices: Cardamom, Ginger, Lemongrass, Rose hips, and Rhubarb root.

Anyone else think that PBC is a weak brewery? I mean Kenzinger is nice change of pace from Lager but I don’t like their other beers.

I tasted the new Fleur this weekend at the brewery. It is much more balanced and lemony than last year. I think this will be a really popular summer sipper. The Newbold is also going through some tasty changes.

@ Adam: Walt Wit is a pretty solid beer along with Kenzinger. I’ve enjoyed their seasonals too. That said, Rowhouse Red and Newbold have never really impressed me.

    I meant @ Ben.

  5. Marty B. Says:

Their main four are all decent session beers, but except for the Walt Wit aren’t really all that distinguishable from one to the other. I really liked the Philabuster Wheat Wine that will apparently be showing up at Sugar Mom’s Skullsplitter event, but that’s the only brew PBC’s put out that I’ve literally written home about.

I 2nd what Tim said the 1st time
