Beer Week Is Moving
Posted by Foobooz on April 29th, 2009
The 2010 Philly Beer Week won’t be in March but rather from June 4th to 13th, 2010.
Joe Sixpack aka Don Russell isn’t in favor of moving PBW but he does a very good job laying out why the decision was made.
We’re in favor of the moved festival. More outdoor drinking is good, so is less Erin Expressiveness. Lets just hope the Penn Museum has good air conditioning.

Bad news, last time I checked, the Penn Museum has no air conditioning at all! Looks like a great excuse to cool off with a few more brews…

the museum is not air-conditioned in the 3rd floor galleries. there have been some events there in that early june period but many of them were quite hot (it’s a gamble). now what is brewer’s plate going to do? they finally found a great venue for them.

Well I hope this means it will be a Pils filled week, because half the fun of chilly March Beer Week was those lovely stouts and porters that made the frost go away.
Oh, and the Manayunk Bike Race is on the second Sunday, right? Yikes, also. Last Sunday in Beer Week was the best this year: Real Ale, Zythos, etc. I hope I am wrong. Plus June=Shoretalken.

Beer week moved out of Lent? And some people say there is no God! Next year, make room at the bar for me. Thank you.

I think June might make for a drop in some events because of the aforementioned “Shoretalkin.” I’d actually be ok with that, so that at some events (like the Devil’s Den Wyerbacher Night) I can have more than one flight tasting of something I liked before the keg was kicked.
I actually thought the porters and stouts and the “heavy” high octane beers were perfect for March too. Frankly, my beer palette mellows out big time once it starts getting warmer. Ah well.
