“Prime Beef Escapism” At Del Frisco’s

Posted by Foobooz on March 23rd, 2009

del_friscos

In this economy it is difficult to resolve bailouts and $125 per head dinners and as Craig LaBan found at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House, it’s even harder when the cooking is mediocre.

Del Frisco’s unmistakable DNA as a chain, meanwhile, surfaces all too often in the mass-produced character of its cooking, and the hard sell of its service. We felt the push at the host stand, where they reflexively sent diners on time for their reservation into the bar, when the oily waiter welcomed us with the old “And of course we’ll be drinking sparkling water?” line, and when the sommelier answered my query for a bottle in the $80-to-$100 range with opening suggestions at $125 and $250.

One Bell – Hit or Miss

“And of course we’ll be drinking sparkling water?”

    Wowee…

Amada does the same…as much as I love the place…no matter what they ALWAYS push you to the bar before seating!!

I felt the same way at Del Frisco’s. Up selling you the entire time.

I have never been pushed to the bar at Amada in countless trips …

Are they using Choice or USDA Prime?

  7. Tre Says:

Can anyone say “overpriced tourist trap”? Their pompous blowhard of a GM says that they “make no apologies for their prices” but makes no mention of apologizing for their awful overseasoned food or obnoxious, pushy servers. Perhaps their food is good in the Southern trailer park where he’s from.

  8. ME Says:

I don’t think anyone is surprised by the one bell review. The only reason this place may continue to stay open despite what many think is that it is part of a corporate chain and will probably serve as the tax write-off for the entire company…
