Yogorino, FroYo To RitHo

Posted by Foobooz on February 11th, 2009

feb09-004-1
Last night we spotted this awning outside the former Sushi on the Square at 20th and Sansom Locust. We passed the information along to our crack research staff and they’ve found compelling evidence to suggest that Yogorino is a Japanese soft-serve frozen yogurt business, similar to Pinkberry, Red Mango or Philadelphia’s own Phileo. And at least one Washington DC Chowhound thinks its the best tangy yogurt out there.

Update: We’ve been alerted to Yogorino’s US web site.

Do you by any chance mean 20th and Locust? 20th and Sansom is Capogiro (NE corner), the coffeehouse that closed and Tinto (NW corner), a drycleaner (SW corner) and a surface parking lot (SE corner). Sushi on the Square was on the NE corner of 20th and Locust across Locust from the Wawa that closed in the Dorchester. Thanks!

I’ve heard of yogorino; basically red mango/pinkberry/etc etc times a thousand. Looking forward to this opening quite a bit.

There is some serious buzz in the city over these guys. I have a feeling that this will be huge in Rittenhouse this summer.

  4. Pam Says:

    I’m thrilled!!

But if you just can’t wait for the mystery opening date, I just discovered that Old Nelson (in the old Wawa on 20th and Chestnut) has a self serve frozen yogurt machine…two flavors: tart plain and tart green tea. Both are yum and cheap!

  5. BMT Says:

Now if we can just get a Wawa back in that spot across the street we’d be getting somewhere.

  6. CD Says:

Sure you don’t mean ‘Italian’ soft-serve?

Our new favorite place! Have been there 4 times already with the kids…AND it’s probiotic too – LOVE!
