Waaah! Tria G-Ho Is Dead

Posted by Foobooz on December 9th, 2008

With 21st and South being just a couple of blocks from Foobooz World Headquarters, we have selfishly been looking forward to a G-Ho Tria Cafe but today we learn the deal is off.

Tria is still actively seeking a third location and the owner of 2054 South Street, James Romeo is actively looking for a tenant. Romeo is looking to have the space ready for delivery by January 1st.

We’ve already suggested some locations for Tria but here’s a new question for you:
What would you like to see go into the old MAB store across from LaVa and Ten Stone?

I could not be more sad. Lots of folks in the neighborhood were bragging about the G-ho Tria to out-of-towners and lording this over other Philadelphians. G-Ho is still prime territory, judging by the foot traffic, and I’m sure we’ll welcome something equally awesome.

    That’s bullshit!!!! I’m pissed.

Hard to survive in the blast zone of a neutron bomb. Still think a Tria’d do well in the neighborhood of Cochon, Little Fish, etc. There’s no life in SWCC or G-Ho or whatever the UN High Commission on Gentrified Dead Zones calls it these days. Just statistics and polling data indicating some people try to live there. It’s too abstract and speculative for anything as lustily fermentation dependent as Tria to thrive.

great comment impaler! couldnt agree more!

or what do some try to call it…rittenhouse south…ha!
    not even close!

  5. tjamesblue Says:

Fairmount would be perfect! Spaces are available.

  6. Jimmy Says:

Jagee – I bet you live in Queen Village. That’s soooo 1990s.

  7. rory Says:

please, Fairmount! I even mentioned it to the Tria people in case South street didn’t work out, they should look into Fairmount!

    we need some variety!

  8. Andre Says:

I think the space at fairmount ave and shirley would be perfect. there’s another space on 18th near wallace that might be interesting.

  9. Dan Says:

I’m so sad to hear that Tria is not opening a new store. it’s kind of inconveneint for me but I was glad to see them doing so well. I think a great little Pattiserie is just the ticket for the old MAB store, like the Pink Rose at 4th and Bainbridge.

  10. Phil Says:

Fairmount is starving for a place like Tria. It’s an established neighborhood that has limited options for real proper dining.
