Quality of food and food service are subjective – so we welcome everybody to speak their mind as long as they are respectful to others on the site.

yeah that review is really horrible. It is super disrespectful to so many people (the waitstaff, the artists, the clientele, the chef, the reader, and the writer for that matter). this girl is like the howard eskin of food bloggers, and really doesn’t deserve to be linked to such a positive and professional site like foobooz… (seriously, she remarked about the pretension of the word “frittata”, that is just silly)

Yeah, I’m with Rory: why is this ‘Chrissy’ person being linked to on Foobooz? She has one blog post to her credit, and spends most of it misspelling words and getting facts wrong while simultaneously denigrating people who are ‘overeducated’.

ok…now i’ve read the philly grub post…angry and condescending, much? and smh at a white girl complaining about “stuff white people like”. a little late on that joke? The art rotates and is all local philly artists, name me another brunch spot in which whites and blacks sit together more than at lift anywhere near center city, and perhaps if you didn’t immediately assume that the servers were overeducated and didn’t care, you’d have a better experience there. i could go on, but that’s enough.

(oh, and there’s a distinct chance the asian girl you fetishized in your post, crissy–or, at least, assumed the men there fetishized–was my girlfriend if you went to brunch. we can deconstruct your/my/our society’s racism some other time, but suffice to say, I resent the implication of that comment.)

I’m a regular at lift and while I’m sad that the free bread pudding seems to have disappeared (why?) and that when it was offered, my table often didn’t get it (did you know i was hooked or something?!?)…i’ve never had really bad service. Sometimes you have to flag your waiter/waitress down…but it’s a cafe, it’s no big deal to me.

but hey, the fewer people who go there, the less likely a wait for their amazing brunch for me

I concur with Philly Grub. Cafe Lift really does have some great food, but the service is apalling. On a recent visit, I sat in a near empty restuarant for 15 minutes before one of the three servers took my order. I had to ask for water (and had never been asked if I wanted a beverage). Then, I had to sit for 15 minutes after finishing my food to get a check.

The place is one block from my office, but I rarely go because of the service. Too bad. Great food.
