Come to south philly please...with sptr, taproom on 19th etc, we are becoming a beer powerhouse. You might need to feature some other kinds of wines and beers to reflect our cool neighborhood demographics, not to mention killer Italian cheeses. Fuhgetabout those other neighborhoods and rent the available joint on 16th and Ritner. Blow out the walls, put some nice windows, and soon the grannies in their housedresses will be quaffing chianti with the ever-increasing neighbors in the up and coming gayborhood. Really, think about it.

I say push out Callahans on South & Taney. Doubtful, but I'm sick of 15 year-olds puking on my doorstep.

Any prospective bar-owner who sees the size of the crowd at The Royal on any given night should jump at the chance to open a bar in Bella Vista or Passyunk Square. I like the 13th and Ellsworth idea, if only for totally selfish reasons. How about the location of our dearly departed Pif? Or the not so dearly departed Butcher Cafe? Wasn't someone just suggesting that the Italian Market needs a wine bar?

+1 for the fairmount suggestion. The area needs the variety in drinking/food options (too many gastropubs)

+1 for 21st and South. It would be great to have Tria in GHO and it would make that a pretty sweet intersection with 10 stone and la va there.

Some suggestions:

Bainbridge and Broad, SE corner. There's an abandoned restaurant space there which, with a little work, could be a great anchor as Broad fills in (Dranoff's 777 development is just a block away! and Starr's broad street diner development is coming).

18th and South, SE corner. Across from Lombard Apothecary is a really neat, old building with great details. don't know what inside is like.

The intersection of Fairmount and Corinthian, across from L'Oca, has a new (and as far as I know, vacant) storefront. The apartments above it were inhabited a few months ago, but nothing in the ground level yet!

1200 SF corner store opened for rent between front and 2nd on the north side of girard. Just down from Modo Mio. Probably still a bit too fringe for a place like Tria though.

13th and Ellsworth? I think Tria's looking for a neighborhood a little more built up /established than that. I'd say I think around 7th and Passyunk. A Tria would be a good place to hit up before or after Cochon, and I think they'd complement the Italian chocolate cafe real well. I don't have a specific address in mind, but at that intersection, I think there are more than a couple of spaces it could fit in.

I still think too many neutron bombs have been deployed in the atmosphere around G-ho. I know people say it's happening but it just says "tomb" to me (no offense to the editors).

As for Phed Ups complaint, yeah it really sucks if someone can successfully open up a range of successful small wine bars in the same city, especially after getting a lot national press. We simply don't deserve it. Please. If someone's good at something, and there's interest/demand let 'em keep doing it.

No where. Why does such a small, great food city need a 3rd Tria? One was great. But two? Three?
I dunno. Maybe the Tria folks are planning a Starbucksian empire...

21st & South, south-east corner! What was formerly a paint store has been vacant for about a year now. You have La Va Cafe and Tenstone on the same corner, and the new Pub & Kitchen 1 1/2 blocks away. Also nearby are Grace tavern, Sidecar Bar, Doobies, Roberto's, My Thai, etc. Grad Ho is perfect for Tria 3...

13th and Ellsworth. Very nice vacant space in rapidly developing passyunk square. Steven Starr will be a block away as well as the soon to be 777 S. Broad. It's perfect!!
