Kung Fu Necktie Open In Fishtown

Posted by Foobooz on September 12th, 2008

The folk at Philebrity say you’re going to like Kung Fu Necktie. We say, necktie is one word? We had no idea.

The Fu was formerly a Kenzo dive called The Penalty Box. Bearing that in mind, we couldn’t have been more surprised when entering the Fu space, which has been gorgeously rehabbed and evokes a kind of 1930s charm with a long, wraparound bar, high ceilings, tables made from old bowling alley lanes, and loads of original touches — including a stage with a handmade wooden arch and a smoking garden in the rear.

What’s the address / website / phone? Your google map is VERY incorrect.

Anthony, unless that map was fixed, it’s spot on. This is what used to be the Penalty Box, a block north of the Girard El stop on the west side of Front (at the intersection with Thompson).

Also, the owner posted contact information on Philebrity: http://www.philebrity.com/2008/09/11/believe-or-not-you-are-going-to-love-the-bar-called-kung-fu-necktie/

We just went up there last night and had a great time. It’s a fantastic bar, kudos to the owners for such a great rehab and cool aesthetic!
