Fleur de Lehigh Released
Posted by Foobooz on June 10th, 2008

Philadelphia Brewing Co. has released the first of its seasonal brews, Fleur de Lehigh.
This brew is a nod to old tyme beverages – the kind of styles being re-invigorated by Belgians and Italians and foresighted Americans. The emphasis is on a unique line up of herbs and spices. If you must conform to styles think Belgian Pale … with herbs and spices: Cardamom, Ginger, Lemongrass, Rose hips, and Rhubarb root.
Available only on draught and only while supplies last. Here’s who has it so far:
- The Abbaye
- Atlantis The Lost Bar
- Chaucer’s
- Devil’s Den
- The Dive
- Grey Lodge
- The Khyber
- London Grill
- Memphis Taproom
- POPE (Pub On Passyunk East)
- Standard Tap

Drank plenty of Fleur de Lehigh (what a great name!) during Slow Food Philadelphia’s Pig Roast at PBC on Sunday – a truly delicious drink that indeed reminded me of an Italian brew I had recently (made with camomile and green pepper amongst other ingredients). As for style references – I think you are best served to consider this winner from PBC a sui generis beer and try it at the pub nearest you that is lucky enough to get a keg.

Had two pints at the Devil’s Den last night. Extraordinary, I loved it.

Did not care for this beer at all. After struggling to finish the bottle I thought to myself, this must be a joke…
