Indian Buffet To Brag About
Posted by Foobooz on June 26th, 2008
Trey Popp visits New Delhi in West Philadelphia which has recently been redone and can’t say enough good things about the lunch buffet. Unlimited naan would be enough for us but read his description of the rest of the buffet.
the lunch buffet proved its worth. The dishes are familiar, but the colors shine and the flavors pop. A creamy navratan korma is a kaleidoscope of green zucchini, orange carrots and pale broad beans swimming in a sunshine-yellow sauce. The meats are tender, there’s a tangy sauce for the samosas and there’s mango ice cream for dessert if the cashew-studded rice pudding doesn’t tempt you — or even if it does.

every penn kid knows sitar > new delhi > tandoor > the grumpy punjabi foodcart man in front of pottruck

Pennkid, don’t speak for everyone…because without a doubt, new delhi is the cleanest, freshest tasting buffet near penn…its no surprise that even though it is three times the size of sitar, new delhi never has enough tables to go around. I wouldn’t eat anything in the dirty interior of sitar, but to each his own.

i will have to second pennkid. sitar actually has paneer dishes in its buffet and even chole bhature, which i have never seen at an indian restaurant in america. new delhi’s choice on the other hand is anemic.

i must say that the new delhi haterz, it seems, are out in abundance. new delhi does too have paneer dishes in the buffet along with the best chicken tikka masala on the coast…which is well worth the price of the buffet itself. sitar, on the other hand is a decent place, but at times seems unable to maintain the buffet. I think they may be understaffed…did anyone notice that the meat entrees sometimes seem like they have old chicken, etc.
