Morning News with Random Religion and Retail

Posted by Kirsten Henri on April 18th, 2008

The only P.O.P.E. we really care about is the one on Passyunk Ave that serves craft beer, but chef Colleen McAvaddy of the Irish Pub and Cafe at 2011 was invited by the chef of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC to help cook for the other P.O.P.E. (the German one with the funny hat who doesn’t care for birth control) this Saturday. Lidia Bastianich will also be cheffing some meals and here’s what wines they’ll serve. [WSJ]

Alert your granny! Yesterday, a very helpful sales associate at the Center City Macy’s (or, as we like to still call it, John Wanamaker’s) told us that they will be adding a housewares department on the third floor in October. No furniture, but lots of tabletop and linens. We know it’s not restaurant news, but there are a lot of pissed off old ladies out there since Strawbridge’s shuttered. We’ve woken up with a splitting headache after a night of drinking, but a knife in the back? That’s for professionals. [BBCNews]
