Fire At Mama Palma’s

Posted by Foobooz on April 13th, 2008

Fire at Mama Palma\'s

That smoky smell at 23rd and Spruce wasn’t just from the oven at Mama Palma’s over the weekend. The popular pizzeria had a building fire over the weekend. An early morning walk-by showed one boarded up window and a van from a fire recovery company. Peeking through the windows revealed only minor damage to the seating area.

Update: Michael Klein reports the upstairs escaped damage but the electrical fire did extensive damage to the basement and will require the basement and seating are be gutted.

After my experience there this weekend I wished they had never reopened. The owner is scary and rude. They made us wake our sleeping baby as they would not allow strollers in the restaurant. When the baby woke up we placed her in a highchair and were cursed out (yes in front of the kids) by the owner for not moving her fast enough. The owner hit my husband in the face as we left the establishment and he grabbed a golf club as though he would hit my hubby with it. I would never bring children there it is not a safe environment for young children let alone adults.I think it should be closed down for the safety of the neighborhood.
