Lunchtime Bracketology
Posted by Foobooz on March 20th, 2008
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. And no, we don’t mean spring. After all spring means allergies. We’re talking March Madness and if you have to duck out of the downtown office at lunch to watch Temple knock off Michigan State today check out Barristers where they’ve recently revamped their menu adding grilled flatbreads, Panko crusted chicken and a hanger cheesesteak with roasted red peppers, caramelized onions and crumbled blue cheese. Wash it down with a beer on special, grab a mint and sneak back to the office before anyone notices.
And speaking of brackets, Foobooz has moved on the second round of Philly Madness where we face Lu Ann Cahn. Lu Ann Cahn? We’ll scratch her eyes out.

Speaking of the tourney, where can a brother watch the games, get good beers, and decent food….specials always help? All the “gastropubs” I can think of are not geared towards sport watching that’s for sure. I’m not looking for something like The Field House, but, something better than a 19in TV.

i like barristers for game watching – there is an upstairs and downstairs and it seems to attract good sports crowds that aren’t extremely obnoxious at the same time.

smith’s has good food, and if abby’s the bartender, fun bartenders and tons of big plasma tvs.

Barrister’s is a fraud. Recently ordered nachos and what was brought to the table absolutely didn’t conform to the description on the menu. As far as I know, the “new menu” is some fan of top chef rewriting standard pub fare without telling the kitchen. Food was disgusting. Service was surly, inept and slow. The only positive was a decent beer list and not too pricey.
