Brioche bread pudding at Silk City
Revel in the bad-for-you glory that is the brioche bread pudding at Silk City. Served in giant slabs under massive dollops of fresh whipped cream and ice cream, it’s as smooth and, um, silky, as a moist pound cake. Dig a little farther in and you’ll be rewarded with caches of rich, runny chocolate.
August News
- Best Of Philly came out and we mapped all the food and drink winners. It got others blood boiling.
- One of the unintended consequences of the smoking ban, more children in pubs.
- Even PETA found something to love at Citizens Bank Park.
- Fine dining in the Northeast? And we don’t mean Chickie’s & Pete’s.
- August was time to say goodbye to Independence Brew Pub. Evidently the landlords actually wanted Independence to pay their rent.
- Lose one, gain one. Dock Street opened in August.
- Brunch at Lacroix, it’s “lard-laden ecstasy.”
- Even though we had one of their meatball sandwiches we still have a hard time believing Johnny Brenda’s had a stand at the Linc.
- Philadelphia Magazine takes the low road and blows Craig LaBan’s cover.
- 5 1/2 meals in Chinatown in just three days. That’s what Finding Philly did.
- Could Azure have the best nachos in the city or is it somewhere else?
- August saw the beginning of the revolving door of chefs at Silk City.
- Johnny Brenda’s does donuts. Eat them.
- RIP, Michael Jackson
