The Weeks Before Restaurant Week

Posted by Kirsten Henri on January 9th, 2008

Restaurant Week

Will you participate in the upcoming Restaurant Week madness, especially now that the price has gone up to $35? Philadelphia magazine’s Taste Daily blog has an interesting take on it, along with several tips like this one:

Do the math and see if your favorite restaurant is will be a steal at $44.95 per person (That’s about what you’ll be paying, with tax and a 20-percent tip.)

And if you have nothing to drink.

    In a word, no.

Call me a geek but after reading your post I wondered if my favorite Restaurant Week destination – Amada – would still be a deal at $35. So I went to the Excel sheet and compared what they are offering for R-week with their regular menu, and as long as they don’t skimp on portion sizes – and I don’t think they do since I’ve eaten there often enough in non-R-week weeks – it’s still a deal. Unless you are a vegetarian. Then you LOSE money. Especially if you go out with a bunch of other veggies! Amada, in my experience, has provided the same consistent service and food during R-week as it does the rest of the year. Probably why it’s a tough ressie to get!
