Yo G! That’s Some Fancy Digs Ya Got

The oh so opulent G Lounge opened last night with an invite only affair. It’s a stunning space that feels like it belongs off the gambling floor of a Vegas casino and not under a Rite Aid. But it’s here in Philadelphia and opens to the public tonight.
Drinks range from $6 Victory Lagers to $500 a table VIP areas and an even more exclusive Mogul Room that we won’t be getting into anytime soon. The food is of the snacking variety and is provided by Davio’s upstairs.

the space is beautiful and our bartender marcel (i think that was his name) was great. we got there around 11pm. the dj last night was green and definitely needs a bit more experience. the transition from one song to the next was weak and his rhythm & beats didn’t even match making the energy on the dance floor inconsistent. we only stayed for an hour. i would give the g lounge another shot only if there is a guaranteed good dj. dj spider from nyc was in town and could have easily booked him for this place. this city needs to get better at finding noteworthy djs to spin at clubs/lounge to attract a more well-diverse crowd. i don’t mind paying cover as long as i know i’m guaranteed to dance. albeit the ambiance cannot compare to the G lounge, transit was a much better time last night with great djs in town from nyc. we dance till 3:30am!

Four important things to know before you go….
1. If you pay by credit card, make sure to check your statement a few days later. They have been known to “up” their tip after you have signed your receipt.
2. The music may not be any better than any other bar in town.
3. If you order the same drink more than once and are at any time charged a few bucks more for the same drink, do NOT bring this to the attention of the bartender. You may get bitched out.
4. Have fun!
