We May Not Be Beautiful But We Are Nerds

Posted by Foobooz on December 10th, 2007

If you’re looking for something fun to do tonight consider heading to the Urban Saloon where Johnny Goodtimes is hosting his second City vs. City Quizzo.

Last time Philadelphia schooled Chicago, Atlantic City, Baltimore, DC, Seattle, Denver and even smacked America Junior’s capital, Ottawa.

So get your smartest friends together and show the world Philadelphia is number one in Trivia.

Admission is $10 a person. There will be live music in addition to the quizzo and good drink deals too. $5 pitchers of PBR and $3.50 a pint for all other beers.

Complete release after the jump.

Philly Aims to Retain Status as America’s Smartest City

(PHILADELPHIA)- What is a better way to determine the intelligence of a city, doing a survey of a bunch of clueless tourists or actually asking trivia questions and determining which city is smartest?

In the infamous Travel and Leisure piece that named us America’s Ugliest, people also determined that Seattle was the smartest city in the country, Denver was 10th, and Philly was 14th. But when the cities went head to head in a matchup of knowledge in May, Philadelphia blew the competition away. Team scores were determined by the average scores of the top 5 teams in each city, and Philly crushed Denver 124-115 and embarrassed the supposed brain surgeons in Seattle, who finished with a paltry 100.

Denver and Seattle will get a chance at redemption on Monday, as the 2nd City vs. City Smackdown takes place at the Urban Saloon (21st and Fairmount) at 7:30 p.m. The best team in Philly will walk away with $350 cash, and another $100 if they can topple the teams playing simultaneously in the other two cities.

Johnny Goodtimes, voted Philly’s best quizzo the past 4 years by the readers of the City Paper, will host the event, and the Terrence Brown Trio will provide between round entertainment with their smooth jazz stylings. For more info, please go to
