Best Of January
- The smoking ban became a permanent reality in January and despite our libertarian reservations on the ban, we’re happy we no longer go home smelling like an ashtray. Well unless we stopped in for one at McGlinchey’s.
- There was much grumbling of politics as usual after the respected Jonathon H. Newman quit as chairman of the PLCB.
- Is three restaurants in the same spot within a year some kind of record? January saw Next close and Table open. Table was gone and replaced by Sonam by November.
- Neil Stein was released from jail on January 13th after 10 months behind bars and celebrated with Peking Duck in Chinatown.
- Stephen Starr bitches out and takes foie gras off the menu at all his restaurants.
- In January you could even find craft beer next to g-strings.
- Speaking of Yards, January saw the debut of Chateau Kenso ‘07.
- Remember back in January when a couple of Center City restaurants were robbed at gun point. Whatever happened with that?
