Heavyweight To Resurface!

Posted by Foobooz on December 6th, 2007

Earth, Bread & Brewery

Super cool news coming from Tom Baker who shutdown his Heavyweight Brewing in May of 2006. He isn’t headed to New York after all. He’s going to open a brew pub, Earth Bread + Brewery just down from McMenamin’s on Germantown Avenue.

“We have a signed lease and will be moving our equipment into place as soon as possible,” Baker said. “We also plan to relocate our residence to the area and hope to become a part of the neighborhood and a destination site for beer lovers.”

This is great news- Heavyweight made some really great beers and hopefully the flat bread pizza and remainder of the food & wine menu will be just as good.

Mount Airy just got that much better with this new addition to the neighborhood.

Having grown up in NY, but now living in Mt.Airy, I’ve been hoping that decent pizza would find its way to the neighborhood. Can’t wait to see what a Green Brewery restaurant will look like and hopefully it won’t be hurt too much by Germantown Avenue construction in 2008 just north of the place.
