Struggling At Beneluxx

Posted by Foobooz on October 31st, 2007

Information design may be a critical flaw at the Beneluxx Tasting Room but it can still be fun.

Sampling by the ounce is always more expensive than going whole hog, but look at it as a learning experience. Food was good, sampling was fun, but getting there was painful. Hopefully, Beneluxx fixes the menu train wreck, and gets on with gettin’ on.

Went with my fiance last week and found the experience to be just a little lacking. Did a wine and chocolate pairing (me beer, her wine), thought they were good, not great (who knew lamic and chocolate). The fondue was good, but the extra dipping material (chicken and chorizo) was tough and old. The over all selection of beer and wine is good, and the setup is fun with the washing stations at your table.

There was someone working who had worked at Eulogy and didn’t like the fact they had been sent to this new location. They complained the entire time and wouldn’t help her co-workers. It was annoying just to eat in the same room with her.

    Definately worth a try.

Went last weekend, found the service good and the bartender pleasant and helpful. Tasting several beers was fun, and the fondue was good, but the dipping bread was tasteless, and the potatos undercooked.

This place is definitely a great idea, the kinks still need to be worked out.

Visiting Beneluxx Friday for the first time. Started at Eulogy and one of the bartenders told us about the new place. When we got there the place was so packed there was only room for us to stand behind the people sitting at the bar. Before we had the chance to think about going somewhere else we were greeted with with a friednly smile and menus by the bartender. She appologized about the lack of seats and offered us something to drink. After we ordered she brought the drinks around the bar for us and assured us that the next seats available were ours. Although the place was a little too crowded for me the atmosphere was plesant and all of the staff wanted to make sure we taken care of. When a table finally opened up we sat and ordered a few cheeses and couple of glasses of wine. The cheese was great! I will definately be telling my friends about the new place and will be coming back myself. Cheers!

Finally visited Beneluxx for the first time, and had a great time. In particular, the cheeses were varied and very satisfying. The staff walked us through the process for ordering by the ounce, and the price didn’t rack up nearly as fast as I’d feared: my friend and I tasted 3 beers, 3 wines and 5 cheeses, and shared fondue, for $36 total. I’m full, happy and can’t wait to return.
