Garces Falls At James Beard Awards

Jose Garces of Amada and Tinto failed to capture the Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic award at last night’s James Beard Awards, the Oscars for Chefs and Restaurateurs, R.J. Cooper, III from Vidalia in Washington, DC won the Mid-Atlantic award.

Among the other winners:

• Best New Restaurant – L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, New York
• Outstanding Chef – Michel Richard of Michel Richard Citronelle, Washington, DC
• Outstanding Restaurant – Frontera Grill, Chicago, IL
• Outstanding Restaurateur – Thomas Keller of The French Laundry, Yountville, CA
• Rising Star Chef of the Year – David Chang of Momofuku Noodle Bar, New York, NY
