I regret to write that I visited Carmine's Creole Cafe over the weekend was and was deeply disappointed with the food. I guess I have not been there much since Mim's left and after our last visit I will definitely not be returning.
The crawfish springrolls that I was dying to have were horrible. They didn't taste anything like the way I remember them and the sauce was so thick and overly sweet that we didn't even finish them. The fried oysters were still good...I guess it would be hard to screw up fried food. And the duck entree was dry...not crispy.
And then as if things couldn't get any worse, the sticky bun bread pudding was totally overcooked, smoothered in a way too sweet carmel sauce and whipped cream and was just not edible.
Say what you want about Mim's but at least he could cook. You could taste his passion for food and the current chef (if you could call him that) clearly lacks passion and skill.
Guess we will have to visit Mim's in Wayne or Phoenixville.
