Zot

Posted by Foobooz on 27th March 2007

South Philly Review heads down to Zot, the brand new Belgian restaurant on Lombard Street between Front and Second.

The menu is pure Belgian with lots of French influence (my favorite kind of food). The list of beers is astonishing, but don’t be overwhelmed. Charlie will make recommendations and match your dinner with the appropriate beer.

Three tips of the toque to Zot.

Sweet Lucy’s

Posted by Foobooz on 27th March 2007

We don’t know if it’s a Philadelphia only phenomenon but we think it’s cool that there are a number of lunch trucks that have become sit-down restaurants. Le Bus started in a bus as did the Greek Lady. Another of the wheel to building tribe is Sweet Lucy’s at 7500 State Road. Their ribs have become the standard for local barbeque spots.

Tiffin Store

Posted by Foobooz on 27th March 2007

Yet another new Philadelphia food blog, phillyfoodguys.com. PhillyFoodGuys “searches out and presents great, but lesser-known, food places in and around Philadelphia.” What adds to the uniqueness is the podcast reviews of the restaurants.

In their latest podcast PhillyFoodGuys, Tushar and Bill check out Tiffin Store and enjoy the fresh food and a sideshow.

Tria Cafe

Posted by Foobooz on 27th March 2007

Messy and Picky treat themselves to lunch at Tria, Rittenhouse Square’s wine bar.

The final word: Delicious simple snacks and sandwiches, even for the wine-ignorant.

Brasserie Perrier at Boyds

Posted by Foobooz on 27th March 2007

Brasserie Perrier at Boyds
The Daily News has lunch at Brasserie Perrier at Boyds and finds the experience will chase away your bad mood and it’s a bargain too.

What I most enjoy about BP Café is that it is the Filene’s basement of food. Even the common folk can afford a cup of coffee ($2.50) and a slice of Le Bec-Fin pastries ($4) here. With a quick stop at the Wine and Spirits store down the block, you can enjoy a hearty lunch and make it an occasion. Then bask in the knowledge you’ve had the food out of the kitchens of Le-Bec and Brasserie for a fraction of the cost.

Monday Night

Posted by Foobooz on 26th March 2007

Nothing says spring like muddled mint leaves. Okay, maybe there are things that say spring better than muddled mint leaves, like allergies or for instance. But anyway back to the muddled mint leaves, Rum Bar at 20th and Walnut Streets is offering two for one mojitos on Monday nights.

L’Oca

Posted by Foobooz on 26th March 2007

L’Oca

Craig LaBan hits up L’Oca in Fairmount and takes a look at the neighborhood’s Italian BYOB. What he finds is a spot where for every good dish there is one that is wanting. LaBan calls L’Oca “worthy of neighborhood attention, but not necessarily a drive across town.”One Bell – Hit Or Miss
