Rick Nichols takes a bite of llama at Bridgewater’s Pub in 30th Street Station.
[Michael] Zulli combines it [llama meatballs] with cilantro, garlic-chile sauce, red onion and mashed potatoes, adding a dash of Latin heat to the Swedish-esque meatballs. With chile-spiked marinara sauce, they’re wowing the cocktail crowd.

The paperwork is squared away for Tavern on Green to become Tom Peter’s second Monk’s. But don’t expect it to be just Monk’s when it opens, expect the name “to tie in the nearby Art Museum and avoid confusion with Monk’s on 16th Street.” [Table Talk, Philadelphia Inquirer]

Adam Erace makes up for an oversight by visiting
Fork for the first time. He has a lunch that although not amazing, was at least tasty.
Quesadillas necessitated a fork and knife, because of their monster size and lack of cheesy glue holding the tortilla sandwich together. Inside, chunks of adobo chicken, white beans, goat cheese, and Gruyere created a fearsome combo.

Kirsten Henri braves an ice storm to check out L’Oca, Fairmount’s Italian BYOB. She finds the restaurant “fair to middling.”
I’d say the neighborhood has taken to the BYOB. But for those who don’t live locally, L’Oca is less of a draw. It serves some decent fare, but nothing that elevates it beyond the middle of the Italian BYOB pack. The kitchen seems to have timing issues and the service, though friendly, makes amateur missteps.
Homemade ravioli stuffed with ricotta and drizzled with brown butter, toasted walnuts and sage leaves are savory and nutty—and hard not to like. As are the short ribs—fork-tender meat colored with layers of mellow sweetness. It’s a homely heap of beef that’s reaped all of the benefits of being braised with balsamic vinegar and red wine.
