There’s practically no barbecue left in Center City Philadelphia. So pack up the car and head to the Northeast where bbq is alive and well at Sweet Lucy’s Smokehouse.
Or if you are otherwise trying to stay out of the hustle and bustle of Restaurant Week, why not do so at Southwark. We recommend a spot at the bar where Kip Waide can make you feel at home as you try some of his wife Sheri’s delicious dishes from the kitchen.

Personally, I think Phoebe’s on South Street has amazing bbq and great side dishes (try the mac and cheese). I highly recommend the food and the staff there is incredibly polite. People should definitely give this place a try.

I think Sweet Lucy’s is pretty good BBQ. I’ve tried the pulled chicken, pulled pork, collards, mac & cheese and cornbread so far. The only thing I wouldn’t suggest is the mashed potatoes, too whipped for my taste. But it’s pretty affordable and it’s BYOB.

Sweet Lucy’s is amazing. I wish it were closer to downtown. Their sweet tea, pulled pork, cornbread, sweet potatoes all are excellent.
