Kirsten Henri says “don’t fear the kimchi” and you’ll be on your way to a simple but good meal at Giwa.

A good place to take your first tentative steps toward loving kimchi is Giwa, a tiny spot that opened this past September on Sansom Street. Giwa advertises itself as �simple good Korean food,� and it�s a fairly accurate description. It�s hearty, simple grub, and much of what I sampled was good, though I wouldn�t place anything in the category of great. There are better Korean places in town, but it�s a good place to dip your toe into this sort of cuisine.
