Philadelphia Department of Public Health

If the city of Philadelphia wants examine Philadelphia’s 15,000 eateries as often as the FDA recommends, the city’s health department would have to double its inspection staff.

“The department is grossly understaffed,” said Councilwoman Marian Tasco, who chaired the hearing. “With all the responsibilities they have… that’s clearly not enough staff to adequately provide the inspections needed to protect the public.”
