South Street’s Club 218 Has Closed

Posted by Foobooz on August 28th, 2006

Club 218

  • Club 218/Malokais is no more. The South Street staple closed late last week. Rumor has it they were behind on the rent.
  • Also in the rumor mill, word of a French themed South Philly spot by the Royal Tavern gang.
  • A new Mexican BYO has opened across from McMenamin’s on Germantown Avenue in Mt. Airy. The new spot opened Sunday for brunch and is open for dinners, cash only.

Look “Dive Club” up in the dictionary and you’ll see a picture of Club 218.

I wonder if the rent is getting too high on South Street.

  2. Mike B Says:

I heard a similar rumor about the French themed place by the Royal Tavern gang. More specifically, I heard it will be located at 2nd and Fulton in Queen Village.

  3. HB Says:

I hope they closed the crummy pizza place next to it.

  4. Lucky Says:

These hipster dirt pits never survive because no one can sell enough hackie sacks and gimp bracelets to float the rent while serving up stale PBR draughts by candle light.
