Blind Item: Gelataria

Posted by Foobooz on August 18th, 2006

A blind item. If you’ve ever read Page Six of the New York Post, and admit it you have, you’re familiar with the concept. A tantalizing bit of gossip about a celebrity but with the name withheld. In restaurants and bars, these blind items come from the For Sale pages.

This may be easier than our first blind item. Today we feature a Gelataria for sale in a historic Philadelphia neighborhood.

Asking: $335,000
Year Established: 2005

Have you ever dreamed of selling creamy smooth gelati? This business solves the problem of hungry tourists and office workers seeking authentic home made gelati, cappuccino, paninis, coffee and soft drinks. The location is located right in the heart of the historic district of Philadelphia surrounded by tourist attractions and building after building of office workers. The business is designed to look like an authentic Italian coffee shop/Gelataria. The owner spared no expense in importing the equipment and supplies directly from Italy. The current owner sells product wholesale to other restaurants but limits this to his friends in the business. He feels that this could be a very profitable area to expand into. If you are looking for a great fun and profitable easy to run business this is the place for you.
Facilities: 1500 sq. ft. store located on busy street in historic/tourist area on center city philadelphia. The location is located in the base of a high rise office building and surrounded by office buildings and workers. The space is one year old. All of the equipment has been imported from Italy. Equipment include custom gelati machines, custom gelati freezer display cases, expresso machines, panini machines, walk ins and much more. The location looks exactly like a gelati/coffee shop in italy. The location has an exceptional amout of walk by traffic.

I hope not, but suspect it is Cafe Toscana on Chestnut near 6th.

Err make that Cafe Toscano. It would be a shame if it closes, the gelato served there is very good.
