Johnny Brendas is another step closer to opening its long-awaited live music venue.
The popular bar at Frankford and Girard avenues this week received approval from the citys zoning board for its expansion after months of waiting. Neighbors overwhelmingly approved the expansion at a Fishtown Neighborhood Association meeting earlier this year, but the city zoning board held off on approvals in April after receiving a letter from a local lawmaker, who expressed concerns about the project.
