Eagles Or Smoking?

Posted by Foobooz on June 20th, 2006

Under the proposed Philadelphia smoking ban some neighborhood bars would have to choose between going non-smoking and being open on Sundays.

The smoking ban law that awaits the Mayors signature allows exemptions to bars whose income for food is less that 10-percent. But to stay open on Sunday, a bar must prove to the state that its food income is 30-percent or higher.

Quite the conundrum for some bar owners. Councilman Frank DiCicco is petitioning Harrisburg to change its Sunday requirements so there wouldn’t have to be a choice.
